Collaborating with Gaurav, an experienced Permaculturist, was an enlightening experience as we embarked on a project to design a sustainable site spanning 7.8 acres in Rajgarh, Himachal Pradesh. To kickstart the process, I began with a thorough site visit, meticulously assessing the terrain and marking its boundaries. This initial step was crucial in understanding the site’s potential and limitations.

Following the site visit, I conducted an in-depth client interview to gain insights into their specific needs and goals. Understanding the client’s vision was essential in creating a design that aligned with their expectations. To further enhance our understanding, we delved into a detailed site analysis, examining factors such as soil composition, water availability, and microclimate. This analysis allowed us to identify the site’s unique characteristics and tailor our design accordingly.

Additionally, we conducted a sector analysis, which involved studying the site’s surroundings and identifying potential influences such as wind patterns, sunlight exposure, and neighbouring land uses. This analysis enabled us to make informed decisions about the site’s layout and placement of various elements.

With the groundwork laid, Gaurav took charge of the project’s permaculture zoning. Utilizing his expertise, he carefully planned the distribution of different zones within the site. This involved strategically planning elements to maximize efficiency and productivity. By considering factors such as water flow, sunlight exposure, and accessibility, Gaurav created a harmonious design that worked in harmony with nature.

In conclusion, our collaboration on this project showcased the importance of thorough site analysis, client understanding, and permaculture zoning in creating sustainable and thriving landscapes.
