The inception of the Food Forest Project dates back to the end of August 2021 when Sanjeev Jain, an industrialist Hosiery Manufacturer, envisioned a lush green space in the backyard of his factory unit. Alongside this green oasis, he aimed to create a system for redirecting greywater, allowing it to be naturally filtered and absorbed into the ground.
Additionally, he sought to incorporate a variety of vegetables and fruits into this area. The project was slated to be developed on a 27 by 50 ft plot, equivalent to 217 square yards.
The project journey commenced with a comprehensive process, beginning with a site visit, then, site analysis, a sector report, species selection, and design planning. Subsequently, we sourced all the necessary materials.
The actual implementation phase unfolded progressively over two years, with each step executed deliberately and thoughtfully. This encompassed activities such as excavation, soil preparation through the application of Jeevamrut and biomaterials, and the careful planting of saplings, which were generously mulched.
